New trends in health, well-being and better-for-you food and drink opened doors for business at Food Matters Live 2017

Over 15,000 influential professionals visited Food Matters Live 2017, which played host to 800 exhibitors, showcasing the latest innovations in food, health and nutrition through a range of interactive displays and thought-provoking talks, demonstrations and tastings.

More buyers than ever before took part in the event – the biggest cross-sector event of the year for showcasing innovation and the latest trends in food and drink.

Allied Bakeries, Warburtons, Whitworths and Mondelez were among big name manufacturing brands to attend the three-day event at London’s ExCeL, which offered emerging and established retailers, manufacturers and ingredients companies a unique opportunity to do business in the UK.

Mrs Crimbles, Nairns, Coca Cola, Kraft Heinz, Nestle, Greencore and The Free From Bakehouse were also in attendance, along with retailers, such as Planet Organic, Suma Wholefoods, Whole Foods Market, Ocado, Sainsburys, Tree of Life and Holland & Barrett.

To help boost business, Food Matters Live’s new matchmaking service, Match, hosted more than 260 one-to-one meetings for food and drink professionals eager to identify potential partners.

And to celebrate the incredible innovation that continues to shape the future of food and drink, Food Matters Live announced the winners of its inaugural awards. The winner of the New Food & Drink Product of the Year was Seamore, I Sea Wraps.

More than 400 speakers led the Food Matters Live education programme, with debates on Brexit, reformulation, future of food retail, food futures, new product trends and insight into the modern shopper pulling in the biggest crowds.

Former Sainsbury’s Chief Executive Justin King headlined the conference programme sharing his insights into leadership and the challenges and opportunities shaping the future of food retail - while IGD’s Ben Miller joined James Lowman from the Association of Convenience Stores on a panel to discuss how the face of food retail is changing.

Alongside the conference, a multi-stream seminar programme again put the spotlight on the future of food retail and food to go. Sessions covered a broad range of issues, such as the demand for healthy snacks, bestselling products and retail solutions in food-to-go, and keeping pace with the modern shopper’s approach to food, drink and nutrition.
